ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - The St. Joseph County Police Department’s K-9 officers are arguably safer.

American Legion Post 284 donated more than $4,000 of new protective gear for three of the department’s K-9s. Bullet, Rowdy and Roxy will receive new protective vests for their important work.

The American Legion believes in the importance of protecting these committed K-9s.

“We’re using the finances and our members to go out into the community and find worthwhile causes to donate to, and this year we picked the K-9 unit for St. Joe County, and we’re very happy to do that,” said American Legion 284 Post Commander Cecil Brummett.
