LOUDONVILLE, NY (NEWS10) -- In June, Siena University opted into a house settlement allowing the university to pay their athletes directly through revenue sharing. Last week, Siena took another step into the new world of college athletics, launching the "Athletes & Champions Revenue Sharing Fund."

The fund will directly pay student athletes for using their name, image, and likeness to promote Siena, its athletic programs, and related initiatives. Donors can give money to the fund, which will also receive corporate contributions. Donors will be able to decide which program, and in some cases which player, their money is going to.

A lot of the infrastructure for the fund was already in place due to the former NIL collective associated with Siena, Saints March On. That infrastructure is now
