Bill Linn stepping down from APD
The city of Aspen announced Tuesday that Bill Linn, Aspen Police Department’s operations division chief, is retiring after more than 30 years as a peace officer.
Linn, who joined the force in 1994 as an evidence and operations officer, rose through the ranks to assistant chief. He helped rewrite the department’s policy manual and oversaw construction of the new police headquarters that opened in 2018.
In a press release, Chief Kim Ferber called Linn “a trusted leader, a mentor and an innovator,” highlighting his work in creating the department’s wellness program, including the Fitforce initiative launched in 2012.
Before entering law enforcement, Linn worked as a journalist and taught at Colorado Mountain College.
