A North Queensland youth worker has received a nine-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to 22 child exploitation charges, including raping a child and possessing almost 2,000 images and videos.

Devante Lorenz KR Richardson, 26, was sentenced after pleading guilty in the Mackay District Court on Wednesday.

The charges included single counts of rape, possessing child exploitation material, and using a carriage service to send and receive child abuse material, and nine counts of indecent treatment of a child and ten of making child exploitation material.

The court heard Richardson committed the offences against two children aged under 12.
