A 42-year-old Chinese national, identified as Zeng Yuxin, has died after being sucked into cement milling machines by air pressure at Portland Cement’s factory in Ng’onga, Balaka District.

Balaka Police Spokesperson, Gladson M’bumpha, said the incident occurred on Monday around 9:00 a.m. Zeng had been assigned to work alone at the milling machine site to place safety stickers while the machine was undergoing testing.

“All of a sudden, Zeng was sucked in by air pressure into the moving machines. His colleagues could not locate him for several hours and had to use CCTV footage to trace him,” M’bumpha said.

Upon discovering his whereabouts, the machines were immediately shut down, and workers rushed to the site, where Zeng was found already dead.
