Met Office names Storm Amy with 80mph winds and torrential rain to lash UK View Image

The Met Office has named the first storm of the 2025/26 season . Following two hurricanes across the Atlantic, a deep area of low pressure is rapidly approach ing the UK .

In an update, the national weather service has said that Storm Amy is expected to approach the UK on Friday, October 3, bringing with it "very strong winds and heavy rain".

It is expected to affect many northern and western areas, with a number of weather warnings issued.
