SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - On Sept. 29, Gov. Jeff Landry submitted a formal request to send National Guard members to several La. cities, including Shreveport.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, the City of Shreveport issued a statement about the potential presence of the troops.

According to the City, crime rates have been trending downward for two years. Officials say violent crime for 2025 is down 10 percent and murders are down over 20 percent.
