PARMA, Ohio -- There’s good news and bad news regarding infrastructure construction coming to W. 54th Street.
The massive sanitary sewer project, which will run from Grantwood Drive to Luelda Avenue and affect 2,000 homes, is still years away.
However, Cleveland Water Department, beginning today (Oct. 1), will be closing the busy road to remove and replace 80 lead water service lines between Brookpark Road and W. Ridgewood Drive.
“This is a continuation of their lead service line removal program,” Parma Assistant Engineer Paul Schley said.
“There are about 10,000 in Parma. They removed about 2,000 so far.”
The water line replacement doesn’t cost residents.
“The EPA funds that program with Cleveland Water to remove any of the lead lines within the communities,” Parma Service Director
