GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - A 15-year-old high school student in Georgetown County is facing a criminal charge for allegedly threatening to shoot up their school.
The student, who attends Carvers Bay High School, is charged with student threats, Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver said.
Deputies received information late Tuesday night that a student threatened to shoot up the school at a lunchroom table during the school day, sheriff’s spokesman Heather Pelham said.
“Investigators responded, interviewed witnesses and searched the student’s home for access to weapons,” Pelham said. “As a precaution, additional deputies were at Carvers Bay High this morning to ensure campus safety.”
