(NBC/WAVY) -- With the shutdown impacting the lives of some Virginian's, it's possible to have an impact in what happens at the polls. However, since it's a state and local election, the polls will still be open on Nov. 4.
This is not the first time Virginia voters have experienced a government shutdown. In a partisan standoff over Obamacare in 2013, the federal government shut down for 16-days after lawmakers failed to reach a deal to fund it.
Both gubernatorial candidates, Republican Winsome Earle-Sears and Democrat Abigail Spanberger have announced their frustrations with opposing parties.
