Major cuts are in full swing by NHS Forth Valley after an overspend of nearly £7million was reported for the first quarter or 2025-26. ‌

An overspend of £6.8m is reported for the five-month period ending 31 August 2025, which reflects a range of ongoing financial pressures, primarily within Acute Services. ‌

Director of Finance Scott Urquhart said: “As previously reported, the 2025-26 year-end projections prepared at Quarter 1 identified a forecast overspend in the region of £10m. Mitigating actions including development of further targeted cost improvement plans are being put in place to minimise in-year risk as far as possible. ‌

“Updated financial projections will be completed following Quarter 2 results, with improvement actions factored into a recovery plan.
