SHARON Mercer County is stepping up its efforts to improve local infrastructure for active transportation, including walking, biking, and using mobility aids. As part of a preparation initiative, the county, in partnership with several state and regional organizations, will host a free public workshop on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Penn State Shenango Auditorium.
The event, "Mercer on the Move: Active Transportation Workshop," is a key step in the county’s plan to apply for funding early next year from the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s WalkWorks Program. This funding is aimed at developing a formal active transportation plan to improve public health through environmental design.
The workshop, which includes a complimentary lunch, is hosted by PA WalkWork
