Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday, Sept. 30, that Borger has been certified as a Music Friendly Texas Community by the Texas Music Office, joining a statewide network that promotes music-related economic development.
The Music Friendly Texas program, launched in 2016, is the first statewide effort of its kind in the nation. Communities that earn the designation complete a multi-step process that includes hosting public workshops, surveying local music assets, and forming an advisory board to support ongoing growth. The certification signals that Borger is committed to creating a welcoming environment for musicians and music businesses while using live performance as a driver for tourism and local jobs.
“Congratulations to the City of Borger on earning the Music Friendly Texas Certified
