With snow season on the horizon, the Worcester City Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to increase pay for snow removal operations.

The council voted 10-0 to raise the hourly rates of the snow customer service representative, snow inspector, snow supervisor and winter operations coordinator during outside normal working hours.

The snow customer service representative’s hourly rates will rise from $43.95 to $46.64; the snow inspector’s pay will increase from $50.76 to $53.87; the snow supervisor’s pay will rise from $60.29 to $63.96; and the winter operations coordinator’s pay will go up from $68.28 to $72.44.

Many of the councilors spoke in favor of the pay raises during Tuesday night’s meeting, with District 5 Councilor Etel Haxhiaj calling the proposal “common sense.”
