One of the key planks in Portage Mayor Austin Bonta’s campaign platform two years ago is going to be nailed down starting in the next few months. The city will start work on its first comprehensive plan in 16 years.
The Portage Redevelopment Commission plans to pay for a portion of the study.
“With other projects occurring, it has been put on the back burner,” Redevelopment Director Dan Botich told the Redevelopment Commission during its Sept. 25 meeting.
Scott Falk is an architect with consultant Wightman, which has an office in Portage.
“I’ve been around Portage for quite a few years, so I’m very familiar with the town,” he said.
The comprehensive plan lays out a vision for the city and gives guidance on how to implement it.
