Nurses and medical technicians at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital have overwhelmingly ratified a three-year contract, three months after the expiration of their labor agreements.

More than 300 registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and techs voted to approve the new contract. Nurses were represented by the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Nurses Association, 210 members, and Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Techs & LPNs, 120 members.

To address key bargaining issues, the new contract created a float pool of nurses who earn premium pay to fill staffing gaps across hospital units, increased weekend pay by 20% for nurses, and changed scheduling rules. Hospital administrators and union members also agreed to enhance workplace violence protections.
