Hazardous materials incident reported in Louisville, no threat to public

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There has been a hazardous materials incident at a southwest Louisville plant, according to a LENSAlert notification.

The incident took place at 4400 Bells Lane in the Rubbertown area, just west of Interstate 264. That is the address of manufacturer Carbide Industries LLC, a producer of calcium carbide, according to Google Maps. There is no threat to the public.  

That is the same site of a deadly explosion in March 2011, when two workers were killed and two others were injured.

There is no word yet on any injuries.
