WACO, Texas (KWTX) - It is almost time for some corn dogs and funnel cake! The Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo will open their gates to visitors on Thursday, kicking off its 73rd year.

Held at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo draws in folks throughout the Lone Star State and beyond!

There’s plenty to see and do from a petting zoo, carnival food, and rodeo; but the event goes beyond the fairgrounds -- money raised goes towards funding scholarships for the youth of Central Texas.

“The economic impact for Central Texas for this event center, including the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo which is one of our largest internal events we host is over $70 million so we are here to support Central Texas,” Managing Director of Marketing and PR, Erin James said.
