SALINE COUNTY, Ark. — The Saline County Sheriff's Office has charged a man with capital murder and aggravated assault after another man was found dead on the front porch of a home right outside of Benton.

Officials responded to a home on West Longhills Road after it was reported a naked man was firing a gun on Sept. 30.

Once on scene, deputies made contact with Floyd Smith, who was indeed holding a gun. He was disarmed of the gun and placed into custody.

Deputies would search the area around the home and find a dead man on the front porch of the home.

"Preliminary findings indicate that Smith and the victim were roommates and that this was not a random act of violence," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

Officials say a "brief altercation" happened before the shooting.
