Newport, N.Y. - A 59-year-old man from Central New York was killed in a car crash in Herkimer County Tuesday night.

The man was identified as Rodney K. Dodge, 59, of Utica, according to a news release from State Police spokesperson Trooper Jennifer Jiron.

At approximately 9:17 p.m., Dodge was traveling west on Butler Road in a 2024 Ford Transit Connect when a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado traveling east lost control on a curve, crossed into the westbound lane and struck the Ford head-on, according to Jiron.

Dodge died on the scene.

A passenger in the Ford, Dale R. Dodge, 27, of Utica, was brought to Wynn Hospital in Utica with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jordan F. Doxtader, the Chevrolet driver, was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
