The Eglinton-Crosstown LRT is getting one step closer to its much-delayed completion as Metrolinx announced it "aspires" to start the revenue service demonstration this week.
The revenue service demonstration is a 30-day testing period that runs trains on the route as if it were open to the public.
The provincial agency originally had aimed to start the process in September, but it did not meet that target.
"Our goal is to open our LRT projects as quickly as possible once they are safe and reliable to do so," said Metrolinx in an email to CBC News.
The 25-stop line was initially set to open in 2020, but a series of technical problems and associated cost overruns have plagued the project and repeatedly delayed its completion. Construction on the line began in 2011. WATCH | Eglinton-Cr
