A Lacombe police routine patrol led to the seizure of multiple drugs and a weapon earlier this August.

Officers say they spotted a Subaru WRX with heavily tinted windows parked behind a Co-op grocery store on Highway 2A in the early morning of Aug. 5.

Police say a traffic stop revealed drug paraphernalia and suspected residue in plain view. A further search of the vehicle turned up cocaine, methamphetamine, codeine and Xanax, along with digital scales and a weapon.

Karim Youssef, a 24-year-old from Edmonton, has been charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Oct. 2.
