AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - With the federal government officially shutting down indefinitely at midnight Wednesday, certain services for local veterans in Augusta will be unavailable.

The Department of Veterans Affairs not only serves a huge number of military retirees in the region, but is also one of Augusta’s biggest employers.
