A main road in Birmingham has been closed for works to deal with safety concerns.

Wood End Road in Erdington is shut on Wednesday (October 1) and into Thursday (October 2) while resurfacing works are carried out.

A worker at the site confirmed the road has been closed to allow for an ‘anti-slip surface’ to be laid either side of a pedestrian crossing.

He said this is a requirement and has meant both carriageway of the road will be closed overnight for the works to take place.

The closure is from Rollason Road to Kingsbury Road and the road is set to remain closed from 7pm to 5am.

The workman on site indicated the road would also be closed on Thursday night to allow workers to repaint the road with the relevant road markings.
