A Midlands police force has issued a warning to those looking for romance after a woman in its area was duped out of a six-figure sum.

The woman said that she was ‘interested in technology’ in her online Facebook profile.

And she was then contacted via the social media site by a man claiming to be a celebrity entrepreneur.

Over a two-month period the scammer claimed he planned to come to the UK and said he hoped to settle down with the victim.

He said because of his notoriety, he could not use his own bank accounts to make these plans.

And asked the victim to send him money from her account, which he said he would return.

The man duped the victim into re-mortgaging her house and then sending him a total of £130,000.
