SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WMBD) -- The 2025 Illinois fall trout season will open later this month at 60 ponds, lakes and streams throughout the state.

The fishing season will open at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, according to a release from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Early fall catch-and-release trout fishing will open at certain sites on Saturday, Oct. 4. No trout may be taken from any stocked waters until the season opens on Oct. 18. The daily catch limit is five trout.

In central Illinois, the sites include Mineral Springs Park Lagoon in Pekin.

All anglers must have an Illinois fishing license and an inland trout stamp. Licenses and stamps can be purchased online.
