DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The city of Dayton is on pace to reach over 500 Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) arrests in 2025, an extremely high level the city has only hit four times in the past 15 years.
From New Year's Day to Wednesday, Sept. 15, the Dayton Police Department made 368 OVI arrests. This is the second year there’s been an increase in OVI arrests.
“Every impaired driver puts lives at risk. Our officers will continue enforcement, but we also ask drivers to make safe choices: don’t drink and drive, and don’t let friends drive impaired,” wrote the DPD.
