DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio government's consumer watchdog has vowed to continue fighting to get the Miami Valley's largest power company to fully refund more than $60 million plus interest, while the utility has proposed refunding less than 3 percent of that figure.
The debate centers on AES Ohio's 2018-19 electric security plan earnings.
In 2021, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio ruled that the utility took in $61 million more than it should have, but agreed the utility could keep it.
The Ohio Consumers' Council appealed the decision to the state Supreme Court, which returned the case to PUCO for re-analysis.
