KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - A Latvian man pled guilty Tuesday for his role in a multi-year conspiracy to circumvent U.S. export laws to send aircraft technology to Russia.
Oleg Chistyakov, 56, pled guilty to filing false export forms with the U.S. government and continuing to do so after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 in a scheme that included two men from Kansas.
Court documents said Chistyakov admitted to conspiring with U.S. citizens Cyril Gregory Buyanovsky and Douglas Edward Robertson to facilitate the sale, repair and shipment of U.S. aviation equipment to customers in Russia without required licenses from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Chistyakov admitted to continuing the activity in 2022 despite additional U.S. economic countermeasures levied against Russia.
