KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A lawsuit filed against the owners of a Kansas City parking lot claims years of complaints about its security went unheard before a deadly shooting.

Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Tuesday, Sept. 30, indicate that The Grand apartment building is suing the owners of the parking lot where a fatal shooting happened.

Court documents indicated that 1125 Grand Boulevard, LLC, the owner of The Grand , wants to hold TWP Holdings LLC and KCDH 112 LLC accountable for not reasonably maintaining their parking lot.

Notably, the petition filed on Thursday revealed that the unsecured parking lot has lacked adequate surveillance and security for several years.
