LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- There are plans to have the permanent Las Vegas memorial for the victims of the country's worst mass shooting open in time for the 10th anniversary in 2027.
During the Wednesday sunrise ceremony for the victims, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Kevin McMillan said the memorial would be "a place where we can all gather to remember and heal."
The Forever One Memorial will cost $45 million, of which $4 million has already been raised or pledged, Alex Bybee with the Vegas Strong Fund told 8 News Now. While it may seem there is a wide gap between the money raised and the money needed in the next few years, Bybee is confident it will happen with a mixture of public and private funds.
"We've got good indications people are coming to the table to build this project."
