The Loch Ness Monster may have been caught by the Royal Navy during World War II, according to extraordinary evidence unearthed by the grandson of a sailor.
Lewis Tyler, who served aboard HMS Ocean Swell laying anti-submarine nets, reportedly trapped a sea serpent in the gear during operations on the Scottish loch.
His grandson John Gibbens revealed the story after finding letters from Nessie investigators among his late grandfather’s papers.
He told What’s The Jam: "My late grandfather was on the Ocean Swell – a ship putting down anti-submarine nets across harbours in World War II. I had no idea he had seen a serpent during his lifetime. But after he died I found letters among his papers approaching him for information about an encounter in Loch Ness."
