ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - – The federal government shutdown has put many operations on hold until Congress approves new funding. In Virginia, the effects could stretch from airports and national parks to programs that support families and businesses.

At Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport, flights are still operating as scheduled. But if the shutdown continues, federal employees such as TSA officers and air traffic controllers would be required to work without pay, raising concerns about staffing shortages and possible flight delays.
