The federal government is now shut down after a deadlocked Congress failed to reach a deal on funding.
“We’re always concerned when there’s a government shutdown,” Rep. Mike Haridopolos said. “That’s why I voted to keep the government open. I think it’s imperative as we turn around this economy, especially with the booming opportunities at the space center.”
Haridopolos said that despite the shutdown, projects at Kennedy Space Center will move forward.
“I’ve spoken to the folks at NASA. Everything is still a strong go for Artemis II and Artemis III,” Haridopolos said. “Those people will continue to work on those rocket systems so that we can beat the Chinese to the moon.”
The heart of the issue behind the shutdown is health care, with Democrats and Republicans at odds over spending.
