Hurricane Imelda is intensifying as it nears Bermuda on Wednesday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The hurricane, which formed in the Atlantic on Tuesday, has moved away from the Florida coast and is now bringing significant risks to Bermuda.
The NHC said it is bringing hurricane-force winds, damaging waves and the risk of flash flooding to Bermuda.
According to the 11 a.m. Wednesday advisory, Imelda was moving east-northeast at 20 mph and was located approximately 340 miles west-southwest of Bermuda, near the Bahamas.
On the forecast track, the core of the hurricane will be near Bermuda this afternoon or evening and move away from the island by Thursday afternoon.
