OMAHA, Neb. —
October is National Dropout Prevention Month. It's an issue Omaha Street School says needs to be talked about. They're hoping to raise awareness and combat the problem themselves.
Like most high school seniors, Maliyah Jackson is counting down the days to graduation. She wants to be a truck driver after high school.
Jackson is one of 34 students at Omaha Street School. Her days in the classroom are usually spent in small groups with less than 8 people.
"And I learn more and it's easier to learn and focus more in school," Jackson told KETV Wednesday.
It's how all the classes are at the school, "so the teachers can provide a lot of one-on-one instruction," according to Chief Operating Officer Paul Foresman.
