TxDOT explained that October is historically the deadliest month for pedestrians, with 89 people killed and 143 seriously injured while walking on Texas roads in October 2024. According to TxDOT, last year, there were 64 traffic crashes involving pedestrians, resulting in 10 pedestrian fatalities and 22 pedestrian serious injuries in the Amarillo District.
