KANE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Both directions are closed on US-89 near Big Water due to a crash that killed two people.

According to Utah Department of Transportation, US-89 is currently closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic near Big Water in Kane County, at mile marker 6.

Utah Highway Patrol says that a serious crash is currently under investigation and that the road will likely be closed for several hours. They have confirmed that two people are dead as a result of the crash.

UDOT's initial estimates that it will be closed until 8:19 p.m., though that may be subject to change. Travelers should expect delays in the area and should consider taking alternative routes or postponing travel,
