GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Dozens of firefighters are working to put out a fire after it broke out at a battery storage facility in Glendale on Wednesday evening.
Fire crews from Glendale, Peoria, and Phoenix were called out to the area of 73rd Avenue and Northern Avenue around 5 p.m. Flames could be seen coming from containers that were storing batteries.
The Salt River Project, known as SRP, told Arizona’s Family is aware of the fire at its 25-megawatt battery system at its Bolster substation. It’s next to the Agua Fria Generation Station.
The battery is offline and no one has lost power due to the flames, officials.
No injuries have been reported. It’s unclear what sparked the flames.
