MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District (MCPASD) held a "Drive a Bus" event at their Transportation Center in Middleton on Wednesday.

Transportation Director for MCPASD Mike Hamstra says the event is a recruitment effort for new school bus drivers.

"With our current staffing issues, there are days where we potentially have some kids that are getting on a bus a little bit later."

Office staff are currently driving busses to help keep the busses moving. The district is looking for between four and six new employees to improve and shorten school bus rides for students.

The event held a learning session on driving techniques, as well as provided information on the daily tasks of a school bus driver. After the learning session, people had the opportunity to drive
