HOLYOKE — In 2023, a Holyoke police officer struck a utility pole after his cruiser’s steering wheel locked up, the Police Department says. Now, it is suing Ford Motor Co.

The department alleges Ford breached a warranty agreement and violated state consumer protection laws in a 10-page lawsuit filed in Hampden Superior Court last week.

The city, on behalf of the Police Department, alleges the motor vehicle company failed to stand behind the product following the incident in 2023. Attorney Kathleen Degnan, assistant city solicitor representing the department on this case, did not immediately return a request for comment.
