The first day of the government shutdown did not make any immediate impact on California state services and dollars Wednesday, but the state's leaders are bracing for what could happen in the coming days and weeks.
Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration is closely monitoring the debate on health care spending, how the shutdown will impact the state's nine national parks, and the Trump administration's threat of mass firings of federal employees.
