LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Joseph Lawson has begun serving his 25-year sentence for his role in the disappearance and murder of Bardstown mother of five Crystal Rogers, more than a decade after her 2015 disappearance.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, Lawson was transferred from Nelson County Jail to the Little Sandy Correctional Complex.

Lawson, who was convicted in July 2025 of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence, had his sentencing delayed in August due to health issues.

Court documents show his attorneys have now filed a notice of appeal to the Kentucky Supreme Court, seeking to overturn his conviction and sentence .

His father and co-defendant, Steven Lawson, received a 17-year sentence for conspiracy and evidence tampering and has filed an appeal with the Kentucky Court
