ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York State will hold public hearings next week to allow residents to comment on NYSEG's proposed rate hikes for 2026.
NYSEG submitted the proposal in late June to the Public Service Commission and requested a rate increase for both gas and electric customers. This means your home's electric bill (600 kilowatt-hours per month) would increase $33.12 per month. The average residential gas bill would go up $33.57 per month.

The meetings are being hosted by the PSC as part of an open comment period, which is required before officials approve or deny a utility companies rate request.
