BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The government shutdown that began Thursday is set to impact some, but not all of the Department of Veteran Affairs’ (VA) services on the coast.
According to the VA’s website, the government shutdown will not impact VA Medical Centers, Outpatient Clinics, and Vet Centers, which will be open as usual, providing all services.
VA benefits will continue to be processed and delivered, including compensation, pension, education, and housing benefits, but their benefits regional offices will be closed.
Burials will continue at VA national cemeteries and some services, including applications for headstones, markers, and burial benefits, will continue processing.
There will be no grounds maintenance or placement of permanent headstones during the shutdown, and application
