Most hands in the audience went up when moderator Matt Jamarillo asked attendees of a Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce mayoral candidate forum Wednesday if they have been frustrated with the city’s trajectory over the last several years.

Discontent with the city is rife among the general public — as borne out by a recent poll showing more than two-thirds of Santa Feans think the city is headed in the wrong direction — but whether the city should look to the past or the future to correct course was a division among mayoral candidates at the packed forum, which was held at Sky Cinemas in the Railyard as a partnership between the chamber, Homewise Inc., the New Mexico Restaurant Association, the Santa Fe Lodgers Association and the Santa Fe Association of Realtors.
