STAFF REPORTS
More than 300 volunteers from 31 companies around Florence County spent the 34th annual Day of Caring completing 85 different community service projects.
Volunteers put in an estimated 1,200 hours of service in efforts like landscaping, painting and food drives on Sept. 19. Local companies supplied about $8,200 worth of materials to make these projects possible.
"Day of Caring is one of the most powerful examples of what happens when individuals, businesses and nonprofits unite around a shared goal: strengthening our community," United Way of Florence County President Cameron Campbell said.
"We are extremely grateful to every volunteer who dedicated their time, and to our generous sponsors who make this day possible year after year," Campbell said.
