Police shoot suspect after several stabbed near Manchester

The suspect in this morning's attack at a Manchester synagogue was shot dead by armed police, it's understood.

A member of the public also died in the incident at Heaton Park synagogue in Crumpsall, while another is fighting for his life in hospital, sources have confirmed. The Manchester Evening News understands the suspect was shot because it was believed he had a device, or devices, on his person.

It's not been confirmed whether they were authentic or viable devices. This remains a key aspect of the investigation and is why bomb squad are attending the scene.
