Temperatures are back into a summer-like swing for the Detroit area and its suburbs to cap the week.

Daytime highs are expected to hit 80 degrees by Friday. And this warming trend is going to last at least through next Monday. That’s when we’ve got a cold front showing up in the forecast that could bring some rain showers.

Here are the forecast highlights from the National Weather Service office in Detroit:

The Great Lakes region will experience a significant warm-up starting Friday as changing weather patterns usher in temperatures reaching the 80s through Monday.

The weather change is driven by a prominent high pressure system over Quebec that will drop south into New England and the western Atlantic.
