Meghan Markle's father has responded after his daughter Samantha alleged he was "trapped" in his residence in the Philippines following a devastating earthquake that struck the nation.

Samantha, who is a half-sister to the Duchess of Sussex, posted on social media on Wednesday claiming that the 6.9 magnitude tremor - which struck the province of Cebu on Tuesday evening - had left their father stranded in his high-rise tower block flat and unable to escape.

Now, Thomas has addressed his situation, reassuring people that he is "fine" and is certainly not 'trapped' or 'unable to walk'.

Mr Markle spoke to TMZ following his daughter's posts, stating: "Please don't worry about me, everything is okay," whilst expressing gratitude to everyone for their concern regarding his wellbeing.
